New Nature Preserve Opens in Cherry Grove!
heritage shores nature preserve
Amidst the all concrete, the high rise hotels and the commercialism that Myrtle Beach has to offer, a little slice of peace, tranquility and nature has taken shape in what is the only parcel of land in Cherry Grove that has not fallen victim to the developer's bulldozers!
Located just adjacent to the public boat ramp at 53rd St is the entrance to Heritage Shores Nature Preserve. It took a couple years to bring this project to fruition, but it was well worth the wait. Our hats off and our thanks to Marilyn Hatley, Mayor of the City of North Myrtle Beach who was instrumental in many phases of this project. It is a wonderful testament to those who believe in setting aside a beautiful parcel of land like this for the public use and enjoyment.
Click here for a slide show presentation of some of the sights and sounds you'll discover at Heritage Shores.

Brunswick County Day Trip    Up for some sightseeing?....Brunswick County, NC is one of the best places for it! So much to do on this day trip!

Activities Listing     Here's a listing and map of numerous activities for kids and adults alike

**Our Personal Favorite** - Vereen Botanical Gardens

This is a great little area, practically hidden and tucked away in Calabash/Carolina Shores NC, just over the line from Little River. It is one of the very few areas where you can walk right down to the shoreline of the ICW and fish or just watch the boats going up and down the waterway. It's made up of maritime woods and marshlands with lots of walkways over the water and marshes. Bring a chair, a lunch, some beverages and you'll be set for hours. Great golf course views too of Glen Dornach.

Click on the photo above for a short slide show of what awaits you at Vereen Botanical.

One of best things about Vereen is its proximity to the condo. You're only a few minutes away from stepping out of hustle and bustle into one of the more quiet & secluded spots in the area!

Click here for directions to Vereen.

Click on the map above to view the tracks of our most recent visit to Vereen (4.8.10). These tracks were recorded via the GPS on our smartphone and an application called Trimble Outdoors.

Hyman Vineyards is one of only a handful of Estate vineyards in South Carolina, meaning that all of the grapes used to produce their wines are grown right there in their vineyard. When you visit, you'll likely see Greg Hyman, the owner either out spraying or harvesting or inside their ...General Store greeting visitors. All their wines are from the delicious muscadine grape and you'll fall in love the first time you taste one of the varieties.
A former tobacco farmer, Greg is on a mission to convert other, now defunct, tobacco farms into thriving vineyards!

North Myrtle Beach Is The Home Of Barefoot Landing

Barefoot Landing has been voted South Carolina's Most Popular Tourist Attraction, Best Place to Take Out-Of-Towners, and South Carolina's Most Outstanding Attraction.  This award-winning, lowcountry-style shopping, dining and entertainment complex draws over 7 million visitors a year.
Built around a 27-acre fresh water lake that is home to egrets, alligators, turtles and other wildlife, its back door opens barefootmap.jpg (15584 bytes) on to the Intracoastal Waterway. From morning to late night, the fun never stops.  You may shop at over 100 specialty stores, cruise the waterway, dine at one of 15 incredible restaurants, watch your dessert being made at a candy store featuring homemade fudge and pralines, ride the carousel, ride a jet-ski or sit and rock in one of the many old-fashioned porch rockers scattered around the complex.
World class entertainment at Barefoot Landing can be found at the Alabama Theater with a regular schedule of the best singers and bands in country music.  The theater's resident singers and entertainers star in a daily award-winning musical production that will have you cheering.
It's hard to talk about entertainment without thinking of the House of Blues -- also located at Barefoot Landing!  A complete line-up of classic rock, alternative rock, R&B, and the latest chart-making musical groups, a menu packed with Cajun and southern cuisine, a retail store and Sunday Gospel Brunch is just part of the offerings at this local favorite.
Also learn about alligators, coastal animals and endangered species at Alligator Adventure.  Plan to spend a day or two touring the facility and watching the feeding of the animals.  An educational experience that will entertain your family, this reptile adventure will give you a glimpse of rare albino alligators, Komodo Dragons, crocodiles, snakes, exotic birds and more.
